This is an explanation of the resources we have already created for the project we are putting forward for the Elance “start-up” competition. Until now this project has operated under the name of Global Citizens Art. When I tried to register this name and procure a website address, I could not get one with clear ownership. True Gusto was available and symbolized the relish with which I hope our plays, animations, and games both online and off are received. The arts based business is now registered in Australia with the domain name http://true-gusto.com
Global Citizens Art with all of its resources also still exists – below please find a table with a list of our resources. It will be updated regularly as these resources grow.
True Gusto is the parent company of Global Citizens Art the text book designed to bring the teaching of Language and the Arts as Language together.
Global Citizens Creative Art Text
This eBook will soon be released as a print on demand. It will also have workbooks released to provide practical application of the concepts described. In this book, I talk extensively of CODE and set the scene for a thorough exploration of the idea of codification. I explain how codes evolve and how students can learn to be code breakers and creators.
Virtual and Traditional Jigsaws in the Classroom (and Hindi Translation by Usher of Elance) This book explores the nature of co-operative project based classrooms. The idea of codification and gamification are explored. A scenario for teaching students HTML is laid out in a plain and simple style. Co-operative project based classroom environments are explained.
This blog has been an experiment. It is from here that we can upload and update lesson plans frequently.Lesson plans such as these will accompany all of the resources we create. Drawing a Feather.
The Games we are creating / designing
A professional understanding of Gamification. (Description in Elance competition entry.) The Transmedia project will render phonetics fun and attractive through gamification designed to draw the children and other learners into the system. The image to the right is made from tiles. These tiles will be turned into playing cards and a gaming app.
Transmedia Approach
We have begun an approach by linking FRASB, Suite101.com..sample 1 / sample 2 and Wizzley. We have a Suite called Creative Arts Leadership and another called Becoming a Freelancer, while Anita Saran’s Flash Fiction Suite provides guidance through workshop opportunities. Here is an example of the connections made between these spaces and Elance. What Ever Goes Around Comes Around this is a poem that has been put to music WHAT EVER GOES AROUND by an Elance Professional Catherine Smart.
We have a play that needs adapting – repurposing and songs co-authored and co-participatory stories written on Elance.
I have everything ready, but need the funding to draw the project together with Elance professionals.
We want to stage the play on Nauru or if this is not possible in Fiji We also want to develop the play through scripting animation via Elance Professionals. We will be looking for venture capital to develop and market the animation. This is to fund future Transmedia Projects.
I have the necessary qualifications, experience and motivation to run this project and may well be on Nauru for the remainder of the year. I already have good working relationships with various authors on Elance and will be sure that any new workers are contracted through the Elance work boards.

Hello, my name is Daisy McCarty I’m a long time Elancer and am very excited about the potential for this startup competition. I met Jo when she read and reviewed my recently published eBook “Make Freelancing REALLY Pay”. Her insights into the freelance business demonstrate her business acumen and her background in education makes her highly qualified to receive support through this startup contest.
Jo’s idea for promoting Intercultural Understanding through the Creative Arts is quite compelling and creative. I do believe that collaborative teaching/learning is the wave of the future, and ideas like this are the seeds from which this new educational system can grow. Jo has a demonstrated track record for networking and collaborating with other freelancers and I believe she will put those Elance credits to very good use. I’m also excited that she could have a shot at presenting this worthwhile project to venture capitalists! She has my wholehearted support, and I encourage you to give deep consideration to her entry. Sincerely, Daisy McCarty
Hiya, I’m Jo Harrington. I first met Jo Murphy on Suite101 and quickly became impressed by her creative talent. Her enthusiasm is highly infectious. I have found myself attracted into projects, with her at the helm, which ordinarily would have passed me by, simply because she makes them appear so attractive. Her passion meets any challenge undaunted, and she’s a lovely person too. I support Jo’s proposal for using creative means to promote Intercultural Understanding, as I know she is the perfect person for the job. She can move mountains when she tries! Author of A Writer’s Guide to Wizzley.
Kate Farrant, I support this competition proposal to promote Intercultural Understanding through the Creative Arts. I originally met Jo when she was teaching in Toowoomba I was her student and found Jo most helpful in my quest to complete resolved work. We met again on Face Book where she noticed my work and wrote an article about my jewelry and how to write jewelry descriptions. Jo taught us exhibition skills and I know she always follows through on projects. I can see huge potential for the project and can see that Jo is able to network with other artists in such a way as to bring the project to fruition. I know that Jo is passionate about providing work opportunities for artists especially students. I think the project sounds like fun and value all cultures and their representation through the creative arts. I support Jo wholeheartedly.
Hi, my name is Russell Hughes. I have my own company and am in the process of launching an internet art business called The Modern Art Club I have used elance to connect with skilled freelancers in writing and design. I have worked with Jo via elance for several months – her writing on the creative arts is very well researched, brings out the essence of a subject, and challenges the reader to think and engage with the subject matter.
I know Jo’s interests cover the use of creative arts in a number of ways which can make a real difference to peoples’ lives, and she is passionate about the combination of art, technology, communication and teaching skills to promote cultural understanding and learning. I support Jo’s competition proposal to promote Intercultural Understanding through Phonetics enhanced and made enjoyable through the Creative Arts. There are not that many truly big ideas, this one is, and the elance community can make it happen.
Good luck! Russell Hughes
